After watching Ryan and Trista’s Wedding last night on ABC, I was in touch with my emotional, sensitive side. I wasn’t sure what to write about today, so I figured I would try to write a little poem about my favorite team. I’m sure you’ll be able to tell right away that rhyming and poetry are not exactly my forte, but it’s a little different. I hope you find it fun, entertaining and maybe even informative! If you have any comments, send me an e-mail. I’d love to hear from ya!

ODE TO

THE 2004 AL CENTRAL WINNING MINNESOTA TWINS

People often ask me “What’s goin’ on?”

From last year’s team, so many already gone.

“What are they doing? Are they trying to get wins?”

Let’s take a quick look at our Minnesota Twins.

We all knew they wouldn’t all be back.

I think Twins officials helped Rick Reed pack.

We won’t forget all the contributions of Denny.

And don’t forget the innings pitched by Rogers… Kenny.

The team was breaking up, before our eyes.

Terry Ryan traded AJ for three guys.

A little while later, the Twins felt snubbed

When The Hawk went home and became a Cub.

It was happening so fast, it was so surreal.

A couple hours later, Eric Milton was a Phil!

By making the deal, the Twins saved nine mil,

But it was all bad news, until…

Shannon Stewart re-signed, he will be back.

He sure can’t throw well, but man, can he hack!

Just one more deal to make, we all were ready.

But then came the news, “No More Eddie!”

Mr. Ryan can’t be having much fun.

Of the Big 3, he signed just one.

So, what’s the deal? Are we rebuilding again?

Twins fans want to know, what’s the plan?

All I seem to hear are Twins fan’s moans.

But just wait until they trade Jacque Jones!

So what do I think? Will the Twins compete?

Remember you heard it here first; The Twins will Three-peat!

With so much lost, you may ask Why? Or How?

Well, listen up. I’ll tell you now.

First of all, the cupboard is not bare.

They’ll be all right, still lots of talent there.

There are veterans like Hunter and Koskie and Mientkiewicz,

But getting some production from Guzman and Rivas would be a nice switch!

Stewart’s in left, but who will be in right?

Oh My Goodness, we could argue that question all night!

Cuddyer or Restovich?

Ryan or Ford?

You know, I don’t care

As long as it’s not Mohr!!!!!!!

And who will DH?

I’d sure like to know!

Will it be “Softball Sammy”

or that Canadian, Morneau?

Matt Lecroy will also get time behind the plate.

But for the story of spring training, I know I can’t wait!

Top pick Joe Mauer will be scrutinized plenty.

But let’s not forget, the man is just twenty!

On Team USA, he was considered the best.

But major league competition will be quite a test.

They’ll probably add a veteran, to help him out.

But will he be a huge star? I have no doubt!

With any team, the success of the pitching staff will be a key,

but they’ve got a great trio in Santana, Lohse and Radke.

Milton is gone and Mays will be out for the year,

So the Number four and five spots are very unclear!

I’d like to see Mr. Ryan sign a veteran Number Four.

But I’d give the fifth spot to Grant Balfour.

If he’s ready by spring, and it’s not a huge burden,

I’d give the Number Four spot to prospect JD Durbin.

The bullpen is where there are question marks.

So much so that they might sign knuckleballer Steve Sparks.

Eddie and The Hawk were both sure things.

But now they’re both gone, earning more bling bling.

So which pitcher will throw in the ninth inning,

You know, who will get the Saves when we are winning?

Many have been mentioned, but I’ll throw out one name.

I’d give the job to Jesse Crain.

But who will set up? Well, who do we know?

I hope we get the 2002 JC Romero!

From last year’s ‘pen, JC won’t be alone.

He will be joined by Juan Rincon.

New to the ‘pen are Carlos Silva and Joe Nathan.

I really wish the Twins would lose Adam Johnson.

The other spots, I’m really not sure of,

Could be Brad Thomas, Carlos Pulido or Michael Nakamura.

The Royals will try, the White Sox will too.

And we all know the Indians will be much improved.

The Twins will be fine, and in the AL Central, the best.

Let’s just be happy they’re not in the East or the West!!!
