“All Day” in the Record Books
In my fantasy football draft, I had the first overall pick. Ladanian Tomlinson was the obvious choice and I’m
happy to have him. In the 6th round… I went
and took Mr. Adrian Peterson
thinking that eventually he would turn into LT, maybe later in the season.
Well, as Week 9 gave him his second 200+ yard rushing game, his time has
already come. The accolades have already begun to creep in. He was named the
NFL Rookie of the Month for October (after winning the honor in September as
well). And now, the records are just starting to come too. Today at the Metrodome in front of the home fans, Adrian Peterson rushed
30 times for 296 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second time that he had
three touchdowns in a game. It was the first time in NFL history that a player
had rushed for more than 295 yards. Jamal
Lewis had broke the record a few years ago with
295 yards. And really, AP only had to get one unnecessary rush attempt to break
it. Congratulations! How do you think those six teams that drafted ahead of the
Vikings, that decided to take someone else, are
feeling today?
By the way, you may assume that my team is pretty good with the combination of
AP and LT in my regular backfield. Well, coming into the week, I am 3-5 and on
the outside looking in if the playoffs were to start
today. That’s thanks to the likes Marc Bulger and Javon Walker and well, most of the rest of my roster.
Other thoughts:
·
It was good to see Tarvaris Jackson on the sidelines and laughing as the game was coming to an
end. He took a major hit in the first half and I am almost surprised that he is
walking right now. It looked like a really bad neck injury. The way his arms
responded when he was hit was really scary.
·
That said, Brooks Bollinger has done what he needs
to do to take over as the Vikings quarterback.
·
I said it last time Peterson ran for over 200
yards, but Chester Taylor is really
good too! I think that can’t be forgotten. As AP gets all the glory, Taylor
just gets the job done. Now, was Taylor the backup for Jamal Lewis when he
broke the record for single-game rushing yards as well?
Any other thoughts on the Vikings game? . If you have any questions, comments or ideas for future postings, please e-mail me. I’ll be back!
