Quick Note
Good morning!
I hope everyone is doing well. In the next couple of weeks, I don't know how frequently I will be writing. Tomorrow, I will have another Q&A with a Twins minor leaguer, so please be sure to check back. The rest of the week, I will probably just do a quick update or note here and there. Obviously, if anything important happens, I will be sure to write on it. Next week, I will be gone on business the whole week. I will be trying to post the football picks, and maybe a quick note on my travels at times. But I'm not going to worry about it.
But, I have written most every day for the last three and a half years. I don't know that I have every gone two straight non-weekend days without writing something. There is no offseason for a baseball blogger! But after the incredibly exciting and entertaining 2006 Twins season, I have already given my thoughts on what the Twins should try to do in the offseason. I will try to do more Q&As. But mainly, I will just be trying to post some shorter thoughts, maybe more frequently. I am going to need your help then. I am going to need for you to post some Comments, and keep some discussions going.
I will post plenty. I think anyone who has read the site for any length of time knows that I can't just write nothing. I think this will be a highly interesting offseason for the Twins and their fans and I intend to be there every step of the way to give my opinions. So, don't fear!
I will be around. E-mail me at any time if you have thoughts, or hear rumors or have links to Twins articles. I'm not going anywhere.
For instance, I need to keep you updated on how the Twins prospects are doing in Arizona. On Friday, Matt Moses went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. David Winfree had a two run double. Matt Tolbert went 1-3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly. Kevin Slowey threw 2.2 innings and gave up a run on three hits. 27 of his 43 pitches were strikes. On Saturday, Moses went 0-5, and Tolbert went 0-4. Jay Sawatski gave up a run on three hits in his inning. Kevin Cameron threw a shutout frame.
On the Mesa team, on Saturday both Philip Humber and Mike Pelfrey pitched. You have to wonder if the Yankees wish they had Humber on their postseason roster, and if the Mets would rather have Pelfrey pitching than Oliver Perez?
Remember when the Oakland A's completely dominated the Twins in the ALDS? Well, compared to what the Tigers did to them in the ALCS, it was nothing. Did that really happen? So is it a positive or a negative for the Tigers that they get a week without starting the World Series?
And, the Mets have a great offense, but Jeff Suppan, a guy I was bashed for thinking the Twins should consider, pitched a great game against them. And, like the Yankees, the Mets just don't have a lot of pitching.
I still can't get into football yet. If you are a college football fan, you will definitely want to stop by The Baseball Savant's site where he gives a lot of opinions and thoughts on the top teams and games. I don't think I've watched any college football yet, and have maybe watched one whole NFL game if you added up all of the games so far. The Vikings just aren't real good, I don't think.
Did you know that the NHL season started? Did you know that the Minnesota Wild are 5-0!? Crazy!
The NBA preseason is getting going as well. The Wolves could have another long season. I'm excited to see Randy Foye and some others, but I am just not expecting a whole lot. I mean, I read somewhere that Vin Baker will make the team! Uggh!
I spent some going going through some of my older baseball cards on Sunday. I was hoping for some 2002 David Wright rookie cards. Didn't find any of them, but found some Jason Bay's and several other mid-level type rookie cards. I had already pulled out Twins rookie cards. I just buy them on ebay in lots of 10 or so. So I have a lot of Twins rookie cards. That just reminds me that you should go to TwinsCards.com. It is a great site with all of the Twins cards. The really cool thing is that you can develop your own "fantasy" Dream Twins team. Check it out!
Well, that is it for today, but let's get those comments coming in. Let's get a community of people talking Twins, baseball or sports in general. Just start a topic, asked a question you've been thinking about. Anything. Otherwise, feel free to e-mail me.
Have a great week!
