SethSpeaks Update
Part
of the allure of doing the SethSpeaks.net Weekly Twins
Podcast will be a way for me to provide new content (hopefully interesting,
thought-provoking content) and yet with the show being complete, all I have to
do is link to it here and you can listen to it, and I can actually get some
sleep during the offseason! So, please understand that when I do podcasts, they
will be on live, but you will be able to hear them at www.BlogTalkRadio.com/SethSpeaks
until the next show. I will post the link to the podcast with a couple of
notes/highlights, and then I’ll see if I can find a couple of quick bullet
point notes, and then call it a day.
With
that, the Wednesday night podcast went quite well. After rambling for several
minutes about various topics, including what I made myself for supper, Nick Nelson of Nick & Nick’s
Twins Blog called in and joined the discussion. Soon after, Parker Hageman, the man behind Over the Baggy joined the
discussion. And finally, John Bonnes, the Twins Geek and the man behind Gameday Magazine, joined the podcast. We briefly
talked about the 2008 season, but spent most of the time talking about the
upcoming offseason as we look forward to the 2009 season. The Twins have a
really good nucleus of young players, but there are still a lot of question
marks as we look forward. 3B? SS? The
Bullpen? The Outfield? Trades?
Free agents? Please listen to the podcast, and if you
do, please tell me your thoughts and what you would like to see from a weekly
podcast.
With
that, a couple bulleted thoughts:
·
Last weekend, I
did a Q&A for Kevin Lewis
of a new Twins blog called Twin Nation. I checked out the
site again today and saw that he has now posted a Q&A
with Jeff Manship, so be sure to check that
out, along with Jeff’s Arizona Fall League blog.
·
Jeff Manship said that he will make his pitching debut for the Phoenix
Desert Dogs on Thursday. The Desert Dogs were playing again tonight.
They are ahead
6-4 in the sixth inning as I type this. No Twins pitchers have appeared
in the game, but likely will. To this point, Steve Tolleson is batting second and
playing SS. He is 1-3 with a walk and an RBI single. Danny Valencia is playing 3B and batting fifth. He is 1-3 with a
double. Dustin Martin is batting 6th
and DHing. He is 2-3 with a single and a two run
double. He also has a stolen base. So, good representation from the Twins farm
hands so far.
·
The Twinkie Town Top Twins Prospects voting
continues, with the
#3 prospect ranking up for grabs.
Ben Revere was voted the #2 prospect with Danny Valencia being #1. The vote for #3 will continue until about
noon on Thursday when a winner will be named and we will begin the vote for #4.
·
There is a diary at
John Sickels’ Minor League Ball site on Delmon Young.
·
One more note… I mentioned Jeff Manship’s
AFL Blog. Well, the Cleveland Indians’ AFL Blogger is pitcher
Neil Wagner. Who? Wagner is a pitcher from Eden Prairie who went to
North Dakota State University. I know there are several readers from North Dakota
and central Minnesota and throughout the Twin Cities that might be interested
in that.
Again, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the podcast and on
offseason ideas for the site, so please send me an e-mail or
post Comments here.
