VOTE PAT NESHEK
Let's make it happen! Let's help send Pat Neshek to the 2007 All Star Game in San Francisco! He wasn't named to the All-Star game tonight, BUT he is in the list of five AL Players who the fans need to vote on for the final roster spot. As I was driving home today, I was contemplating an article on how the Twins biggest 'snub' was Pat Neshek. He is putting together an absolutely incredible season, and he deserves a spot on the All Star roster. But, Tigers' manager Jim Leyland put him on the list of five players that fans can vote on, and that alone is a huge honor. He is up against the likes of Roy Halladay and Jeremy Bonderman, so my guess is that most people don't think Neshek can do it. HOWEVER, don't be surprised if Neshek gets the votes he needs. I know I'll be voting as frequently as I can!
Also, Justin Morneau was named to the All Star team as a reserve. That was pretty obvious and well deserved. He is having an excellent year following up his 2007 MVP. Torii Hunter made the All-Star team in 2001 by being voted in. This year, he makes it because of his incredible first half numbers! And, the other obvious choice was Johan Santana, and he should start! Well, he or Danny Haren, I guess. You could argue that Joe Mauer was snubbed, but he missed a month and the three catchers that made it all deserve it. Luis Castillo could be argued as an All-Star, but not really. Joe Nathan is a star, but he probably doesn't quite deserve it either.
I am so excited for Pat Neshek. I know that he hasn't made it yet,
and there is a good chance that he won't. But just to be recognized
like this, as a middle reliever is incredible. He has been as good
as it gets at his position. So,
VOTE PAT NESHEK!
(NOTE - there is no limit to
how many times you can vote, so just keep voting!)
