Trade KG?
So, when I started this site over four years ago, I wrote quite a bit about topics other than baseball. I would write about other sports and TV shows and movies and such. It has definitely become a baseball site. But as I was watching SportsCenter tonight, they were reporting that the Timberwolves and Boston Celtics are having discussions regarding Kevin Garnett. The Wolves, as they should, apparently will listen to requests for Garnett. The report stated that the Celtics have offered four players not named Paul Pierce and their #1 pick, the fifth overall pick. (no confirmation that Kevin McHale actually offered to send the Celtics two first round picks in addition to Garnett). Looking at the Celtics roster, they could get four decent young players, but I am guessing that the Celtics would have to give back some overpaid players just to make the trade even. Does that mean that the Wolves would have to take back Wally Szczerbiak, or would those two be reunited?! I guess I am a fan of players who show loyalty to an organization. Kevin Garnett has done that. Don't forget that he gave up about $40 million or so to stay with the Wolves in his most recent contract. He has stuck by the team. However, there are three reasons that I wouldn't mind seeing Garnett traded. First, I want to see him win. I think he has been the best all-around player in the NBA (factoring in scoring, rebounding, passing, and defense) for the past decade and I want to see him have a chance to win. Second, Kevin McHale is a horrible GM who doesn't really seem to understand how to put together a quality team. Third, Glen Taylor continues to stand behind McHale. So, what do you think? Should the Wolves trade KG? If so, what type of package should they get back in return?
