GAME RECAPS
TWINS 11, MARINERS 0
Scott Baker was very good
again, and the Twins bat provided him with more than enough run support to get
him that first win of the season. Baker went seven shutout innings, allowing just
five hits. He walked none and struck out five. Jesse Crain and Joe Nathan each
got an inning of work in as well without surrendering a base runner. The Twins
got a couple of runs in the first when a Joe Mauer
ground out scored Denard Span,
and a fly out by Justin Morneau scored Matt Tolbert
from third. The next inning, Brendan Harris came up big with an opposite field,
three run home run that gave the Twins a 5-0 lead. The Twins added three home
runs in the bottom of the fifth. Joe Mauer and Justin
Morneau homered back to back, and a few batters
later, Brian Buscher launched his first home run of
the year, a three run blast. Mauer, Harris and Kubel each had two hits. Kubel
added a walk and his ninth double. Delmon Young went
2-3 with a walk, and he is now hitting .303 on the season.
