Minor League Update

I just heard from two sources that the Twins have promoted OF Ben Revere from Extended Spring Training to Beloit to replace the injured 3B Deibinson Romero. The Snappers have several guys who can play 3B, and Chris Parmelee will be able to play 1B. With the DH position also available, there should be plenty of At Bats for Revere, Parmelee, Joe Benson and Mark Dolenc still.

Also, the Snappers brought up relievers Brad Tippett and Santiago Arias from EST. Mike McCardell was put on the 7-Day Disabled List.

Also, Brandon Roberts has now been put on the Disabled List with his hamstring injury. He was out for two weeks earlier this month with the problem. He came back for a couple of games and now he is on the Disabled List. Not good because Dustin Martin is also expected to miss a few games with a hamstring injury as well. Toby Gardenhire, who in limited time at Ft. Myers has actually hit a little bit, has been promoted to New Britain. Luke Hughes, arguably the organization's top minor league hitter to this point in the season (and it wouldn't take much arguing), will be playing plenty of CF in the coming week to help the situation.

By the way, did you know that Luke Hughes has never appeared on a SethSpeaks.net Top 50 Twins Prospect List? He hit just .202 in 2005 at Ft. Myers, and .236 when he repeated in 2007. So, I am trying hard not to make too much out of his fast start. As someone with the Twins told me, you don't really expect him to hit eight home runs in a month, but the improvement was shown last year. He did a great job playing for Team Australia in the World Cup in Taiwan during the offseason. You just don't know when a prospect is going to figure things out. For his sake, and for the Twins organization, let's hope he keeps it going! Oh... and when my Top 50 Twins Prospect List comes out in early June, I think you can expect to see him in there somewhere!!

Finally, I know few were expecting much from Hank Sanchez this year, but the 2005 supplemental first round pick is having an MRI on the same knee that cost him most of the 2007 season. It doesn't appear to be good.
