Twins vs Yankees

The Twins are in Tampa taking on Ian Kennedy and the Yankees. It is a 12:15 (central) start. I am going to watch the game on the YES Network during my lunch. I will be posting comments in the comment section throughout my lunch and would encourage others able to watch or listen to post your thoughts as well.

Thanks,

Seth

Hump Day Notes

Wow, am I learning a lot from the Demographic Surveys! Thank you to all of you who participated, and to those of you who haven't yet, please do so. It's a great vehicle for me to find out what you want from this site, what keeps you coming back, and what you would like to see gone. It's also interesting to hear from first-time writers as well as to see where people are coming from. My initial thought was that most people would be from the Twin Cities metro area, but reality is that people read this site from all over the country and around the world, which is really neat. So again, please scroll down this page a little bit and take a minute to fill out my Demographic Survey. There is incentive too!

There are three pretty clear things that many of you do not like about the site... 1.) American Idol Thoughts... I'm not quite as into this season, so we'll have to see. Although, David Archuletta was again incredible, I also liked most of the performances last night. The guy that sang Lionel Richie's Hello... that was amazing too! That Danny Noriega really, really has to go! 2.) The site design... many of you probably work in web design and such and I hope you all realize that this site is about the content more than the design, but if you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to let me know. 3.) RSS Feed - I had one for a little while. It didn't work well and now it has become a pay-site, so I don't have that any more. If anyone knows how to help me set up an RSS Feed, that would be great! Thanks!

I will dive a little more into the surveys in coming days, but again, I encourage you to submit your responses to the below questions.

The Twins will be on ESPN this afternoon (noon, Twin Cities time). They will be playing the Yankees. Their game in Tampa against Jason Bartlett and the Rays was called due to rain after four innings. It does sound like Boof Bonser pitched well again in his three inning start. Nick Blackburn then struck out two in his inning. It will be interesting to see the lineup that the Twins use against the Yankees and on TV. It's also always fun to see which lesser-knowns, or minor leaguers will get a chance to shine in the national spotlight. Yes, I know that noon on a Wednesday isn't a huge ratings opportunity, but still. It could be someone's big ESPN moment!

Speaking of surveys, I did one yesterday that I thought was fun and made me think, so I thought I would share it with you and encourage you to do it. It will ask you for your division winners, Wild Card winners, World Series winner and some major award winners. Check out Ryan Glanzer's website and take the Challenge.

Anyone else surprised to see Corey Patterson signed to a minor league contract? Scott Boras really has had a rough offseason! But I don't think anyone would be surprised that the Reds were the team to sign a CF. You know Dusty Baker would hate to trust a starting spot to someone young (and immensely talented) such as Jay Bruce! I mean, that's the only reason Scott Hatteberg was brought back instead of handing the 1B job to Joey Votto. Or, it's like signing Josh Fogg to be the #4 starter meaning that two of Homer Bailey, Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto will begin the season in the minor leagues.

How about the Reds signing a 16 year old kid yesterday to a $2 million signing bonus!? I can't help but wonder if the Twins were in discussions.

The CRAZY part of this story... "The hotel manager, Ken Glass, told police a similar incident had happened last year, when Levis was checked into a room on the fourth floor overlooking the pool, the report said."

If you're curious about some deeply SABRmetric reasoning for Bert Blyleven to be in the Hall of Fame (courtesy of Bill James and Sabermetric Research), this is your spot!

FORMER TWINS UPDATES

Check back tomorrow. Have a great day!
