A Few More Updates
Hey ya'll, I'm home with a sick little girl, so I thought I would post a couple of quick notes if I find things of note throughout the day. Feel free to e-mail me with more good stories/articles to link to, or for other topics of discussion.
It's always interesting to learn what is on TV during the day. I mean, when you're in school, you are in school except during the summer. Once you get a job, you generally are working during the day. So, being at home is interesting. First, my favorite show to watch when I'm at home during the day is Little House on the Prairie. What a great show! But when you're home with a little girl who won't be two for a couple of months, you learn the value of 'toons! Well, right now, the great Sesame Street is on. Just a moment ago, Alicia Keys and Elmo were signing a duet called I Keep on Dancing. Apparently they have quite the bond. There was also just a Seven-Eight-Nine skit where a couple of investigators were accusing the number Seven of Eating the number Nine... Turns out that Nine was still alive! Uff dah!
If you're looking for more places to check out Twins information, check out Howard Sinker's posting today for several great ideas!
Tonight, I will be attending the Minnesota Gophers baseball game against TCU at 6:30. It is the 2nd game of the 2008 Dairy Queen Classic. This is a four team tournament at the Metrodome where the Gophers, TCU, Pepperdine and Tulane will each play each other. They have this tournament every year and bring in very good teams, so I am looking forward to it. If there are any players from Minnesota or TCU that you would like me to watch specifically, please let me know. I don't think I'll be able to get to any of the other games this weekend unfortunately. The Gophers had a rough weekend of games at #4 Ole Miss last weekend. (Ole Miss actually jumped up to #2 according to Baseball America's ratings.) If you are unable to get to any of the games this weekend, the Gophers are hosting three more teams next weekend for the Metrodome Tournament. Those teams will be California, New Mexico and Northern Iowa.
Last night Josh's Thoughts posted what is believed to be the first photo of Carlos Gomez in a Twins uniform. But earlier in the evening, I saw on video his diving catch in centerfield during the Twins/Reds games yesterday.
Pat Neshek posted thoughts on his first outing of the spring yesterday. It's always interesting for me to find out what a player is thinking throughout a game or situation. By the way, he is less than 7,000 hits from 1 million on his site, so congratulations to him!
A month or so ago, we did a Q&A with mlb.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo regarding his book Facing Clemens, which is now available. He wrote a piece for The Baseball Analysts called Facing the Facts on Clemens which is quite interesting.
Speaking of books, Chris Coste's book The 33 Year Old Rookie will be shipping in about three weeks. Order yours today!
Credit to Over the Baggy who noted that Garrett Guzman had a good first outing with the Washington Nationals. Also, R.A. Dickey got a win for the Mariners.
More Johan in a Mets uniform pictures... you would think Twins fans would stop doing that to ourselves!!!
If you're sitting at work, maybe you should ask your boss if you can invest in a new chair.
Quick something for you American Idol Fans...
Finally, check out the new and improved Twins Territory site.
